Small Sales

Welcome
to the new look Small sales, in an effort to reduce the amount of work for us - and to allow your ads to be published immediately we have re-designed Small Sales.

It is now a "self serve" site, where you can register (no personal info is asked, just a logon and password) - this registration then allows you to add, update and delete your own ads.

If you forget your logon password at any time, simply use the "I have forgotten my password" link on the login page, Small Sales will automatically generate you a new password and forward it to you via email.

Using the new SS site:

To view ads you DO NOT have to register, simply select the categories you want to browse and start looking - alternatively you can use the search function and search for horses or items matching your search criteria.
Note: categories with no items listed will not be included in the search options.

To publish, update and delete ads you will first need to register and receive a logon and password - this only takes a minute or two.

For help on using the add/update/delete functions click here.

Old Ads
ALL ads will be AUTOMATICALLY removed after 60 days. You will receive an email shortly before removal. You can re-submit the item at any time.

PLEASE remove any of your ads that are no longer needed, they take up space and waste users time.

Image Size Restrictions

Top

WHY do we have a size limit????
ALL websites have a limit on the amount of space they can use (to save information and images) and the amount of information users can view (bandwidth).
Every time you submit an ad (or an update) you re-send the images and details to the SS website…

Every time you view a page or image you are using bandwidth allocated to SS.

Our hope is to allow as many ads as possible and as many users as possible to use SS without being hit with extra fees for this usage (REMEMBERING that SS is a free site to the users) - We as SS admin pay for the site and any excess usage, relying heavily on Sponsorship to cover this cost.

ALSO The bigger the image the slower it is to download on the viewers computer, while many users have broadband these days, there are still MANY that rely on dial up, some users will often give up on slow loading large images and you could miss potential sales.

SO images CAN NOT be over 40KB each - while some people will think 40KB is very small, keep in mind that when your previous photos were added to Small Sales by us, we made them all under 10KB each!

From previous experience with SS, I know some users are not aware of how to reduce the size of their images. Many download their photos from their digital camera and try to send that photo as is - these photos can be 3MB in size (that's 3000Kb compared to the maximum 40KB!!!)

SS will reject the photo if it is too big.

If you are having trouble reducing the size of your images, please email us, we may be able to walk you through the process, or if necessary reduce the photo for you.

WARNINGS

Top

Sadly the use of SS is now open to abuse in ways it was not previously.

Users can be blocked from publishing to SS, it is hoped this will never need to happen but in the following instances we may decide to block users:

  • Repeated (more then once a week) updates with no new information being added,
  • Repeating the same item in the same category,
  • Rude or offensive language or images (user will be banned immediately with no discussion entered into)
  • Using the site to pass personal messages or to flame horses or people, it is not a chat site, it is a classifieds site.

The site administrators can not be held responsible for offensive language or images posted to the site HOWEVER the site will be monitored daily and we will endeavour to remove anything offensive as soon as possible…
if anything offends you, please send us an email and let us know. (The chances of anything offensive being posted by mini horse/pony enthusiasts is very low - but this is a public site and any user in the world can access it).

In the past people enquiring on ads have often contacted the SS admin asking further questions on contacting advertisers or ad content… now that ads are being submitted directly to the site, the SS admin will have NO more information then that supplied in the ad. However we are still available for any questions you may have.

We hope you find the new Small Sales site useful and user friendly, good luck with your sales and purchases and above all, enjoy your minis,

kind regards
from all of us involved in Small Sales and Miniature Equines Australia.

FRAUD WARNING

Top

All information you submit to Small Sales is available to ALL internet users.  Some organisations and individuals may attempt to use information obtained from Small Sales for fraudulent purposes.

Please be aware of a current scam where people from overseas are trying to collect seller’s bank account and credit card details by offering sums for horses or items which seem too good to be true.

In another common scam a third party supposedly acting on behalf of a buyer tries to purchase horses or items by sending a cashier cheque with a larger sum than the actual purchase price and then asking the seller to refund the difference. Unfortunately this cheque is a counterfeit.

Emails usually come from foreign countries (Nigeria, Africa, China, London and others), are often written in bad English with misspellings and/or represent a third party or client.
These emails may contain the name of the item you are selling, but little other information and will ask no "normal questions" that legitimate buyers ask such as about the health or temperament of the mini etc.

Never give out your bank details etc... buy and sell wisely when using the internet.

For extra security you can use services such as escrow (https://www.escrowaustralia.com.au) or credit cards with chargeback facilities or a payment service like PayPal.

cheers
The Small Sales team.
